Praise Poem

Faith is both hard and easy.
We walk the line of duality:
trudging soldiers and soaring eagles
on a narrow way,
an impossible path.
But on we go,
with fingers curled tight about the thumb of a Father;
No weight to our confused
and crisscrossing legs.

"The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand." - Psalm 37:23

Writing Course Assignment: Apathy

I wandered past a homeless man
lying in the street,
I wandered past this homeless man
as he stared at my feet.

I trod the same route every day,
a firmness in my step,
not to care that on such streets
such desperation slept.

Until one day I met the cross
where apathy is nailed,
and felt compassion in my chest
and felt how we have failed.

I wandered past a homeless man
but today I saw it all:
injustice, like a leaden shot.
Today I saw a soul.

May Showers

Which person was it
who first fouled the rain
with his melancholy moods?
I feel no such sorrow
at the cascading drops.
A jumper soaked; a chill cold caught,
Anger cries "Rain is for naught!"
Such inconvenience is the price of life.
I'm glad my God, my Lord,
in his kind wisdom poured,
fresh water upon our land.
For now, it's smells of fresh-drenched dirt,
crisp and clean; alive.
For next, it's full, round fruit finding
all's turned ripe one Summer Day.
No inconvenience then: just joy.

Hope

Squatting in a squalid place,
He spends his days in dreaming,
Of dawns and dusks all spent aloft
-through streaky sunsets soaring.

Which Tyrant beat this fragile form?
Who clipped such splendid wings?
He may not fly, yet he defies,
As night by night he sings.

Nameless

For a gust of wind I would give
that which was never mine.
I promise to you the endless stars,
the boundless sea for a soft sweet breeze.
Life is not Life behind the glass,
with nose pressed up flat,
with desire burning inwards,
and outwards,
and upwards,
longing to breathe.

.

Broken by the fall,
I call, I call.
Arms lifted high,
I cry, I cry.
I know we must pay,
So I pray, I pray.

Silence; stretching and swelling. Suffocating.

Wait, I can breathe.
Jesus. Life. Oxygen.

Peace.

In the Beginning

Cupped in warm hands,
Folded in tender fingers,
Sweetly crafted,
From love.
He melded stardust,
Into soft pink flesh,
With glassy eyes,
Hollow inside.

Lips lean forwards, part slowly, breath of life from lungs past tongue and teeth, sighing out of mouth and into me.

I open curious eyes.
Alive.

Gloss

Lipglossed lips,
so smooth they shine.
Pink Perfection;
these lips of mine.

So how can it be
from their beauty spills,
words that cause
so many ills?

Words of anger,
born from pain,
they just come tumbling
from my brain.

I think there's something
wrong in me.
Left broken,
-not that you could see.

Lipglossed lips,
with much to hide.
What dark perfection;
these lips of mine.

Another Attempt at Poetry :)

A broken heart,
A troubled mind,
These things were mine.
Sleepless nights,
Tormented dreams,
These things I knew.
What is this power,
That sweeps my soul,
From inside out?
He sets me free,
Smashes my chains,
I breathe his name
“Jesus”.
Joy, light, life,
And I am born again.

Prove It...

"Prove to me that You are real"
She cries,
Desperate to know.

But, The birds in the sky,
So beautiful in flight,
Are they not proof?

The Earth in space,
Made perfect for life,
Is that not proof?

The broken,
That are now healed.
The lonely,
That are now loved.
The chained,
That are now free.

"I have seen and believe,"
We cry gratefully.
Our eyes opened.
