Hope

Squatting in a squalid place,
He spends his days in dreaming,
Of dawns and dusks all spent aloft
-through streaky sunsets soaring.

Which Tyrant beat this fragile form?
Who clipped such splendid wings?
He may not fly, yet he defies,
As night by night he sings.
